A company in the Brainerd Lakes Area is now hiring a Boarding Assistant. Boarding assistants are responsible for the day-to-day care of patients and boarders. This includes feeding, watering, medicating, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well-being of dogs, cats and, occasionally, other companion animals. Boarding assistants must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. It is essential that they have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized pets. Boarding experience is not always a prerequisite for this position. This position is full-time with hours rotating Monday Friday (4 days a week) from 7 4: 30pm. Once trained, candidates will be rotated in the schedule to work holidays and weekends.
-Walk, feed, bathe and medicate dogs as directed
-Keep all boarding/grooming kennels and boarding area clean and organized (this includes scrubbing/mopping floors after each walk)
-Feed and medicate cats as directed
-Clean cat boarding ward (fresh litter box and water, kennels clean, new blankets when necessary)
-Saturday/Sunday reception duties (checking boarding clients in/out, food sales, answer boarding telephone line, etc.)
-Accurately complete all paperwork and invoicing for each pet
-Check in boarding pets, paying special attention to labeling/writing all belongings (including color/type) and special instructions on boarding check in forms and cage cards/patient charts.
-Perform pre-check in inspection of all pets (look for obvious medical concerns such as limping, ear/eye issues, skin concerns, fleas etc.) Discuss findings with owner and document accordingly.

-Check out boarding pets, paying special attention to make sure all belongings go home
-Other duties as assigned
